Know your fee period
A fee period can have 25 to 35 days. The fee period is used to calculate the monthly service fee and doesn’t always match a calendar month. Monthly fees are calculated and posted on the last business day of the fee period. The summary for each fee period details includes:
- Minimum requirements for each option to avoid the monthly service fee
- Your activity towards those requirements within the dates of the fee period
To view your fee period, sign on to Wells Fargo Online® or Wells Fargo Mobile®4 and go to the Monthly Service Fee Summary within your specific account.
This information is also located on your checking account statement in the section called Monthly Service Fee Summary.

A qualifying electronic deposit is a deposit of funds, such as your salary, government benefit payment, or other income, that has posted to your account and is (1) a direct deposit made through the Automated Clearing House (ACH) network, (2) an instant payment processed through the RTP® network (real-time payment system) or FedNow℠Service Mark Service, or (3) an electronic credit from a third party service that facilitates payments to your debit card using the Visa® or Mastercard® network (e.g. an Original Credit Transaction). Transfers from one account to another, mobile deposits, Zelle®, or deposits made at a branch or ATM are not considered a qualifying electronic deposit.
When the primary account owner reaches the age of 25, age can no longer be used to avoid the monthly service fee.
A qualifying non-civilian military direct deposit is a direct deposit of your salary, pension, or disability benefits electronically deposited from Department of Defense/Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DOD/DFAS), Department of Veterans Affairs/Veterans Benefits Administration (VA/VBA), or U.S. Department of the Treasury from any branch of the United States military into an eligible checking account. Transfers from one account to another, mobile deposits, Zelle® , or deposits made at a branch or ATM are not considered a qualifying electronic deposit. An account will receive program benefits 45 days after the qualifying non-civilian military direct deposit is deposited into the checking account and program benefits will end 180 days after a qualifying non-civilian military direct deposit is no longer deposited into the checking account. Prime Checking and Premier Checking accounts are not eligible for this program.
You will receive your Worldwide Military Banking program benefits 45 days after your qualifying non-civilian military direct deposit is deposited into your eligible Wells Fargo checking account. For more information on the qualifying non-civilian military direct deposit, program qualifications and benefits, please visit wellsfargo.com/military/worldwide-military-banking or wellsfargo.com/depositdisclosures.
These benefits will take effect within 45 days following the linkage of your Campus Card to a Clear Access Banking or Everyday Checking account. Your account must be linked to an open, active Wells Fargo Campus Card to remain eligible and receive these benefits. Benefits will end 60 days after your Campus Card is no longer linked and the Bank’s standard Clear Access Banking or Everyday Checking account terms and fees apply. For more information, please refer to the Wells Fargo Consumer Account Fee and Information Schedule or see a Wells Fargo banker.
Fees charged by non-Wells Fargo ATM operator or network may apply.
Whether or not the wire transfer fee is waived, Wells Fargo makes money when we convert one currency to another currency for you. The exchange rate used when Wells Fargo converts one currency to another is set at our sole discretion, and it includes a markup. The markup is designed to compensate us for several considerations including, without limitation, costs incurred, market risks, and our desired return. The applicable exchange rate does not include, and is separate from, any applicable fees. The exchange rate Wells Fargo provides to you may be different from exchange rates you see elsewhere. Different customers may receive different rates for transactions that are the same or similar, and the applicable exchange rate may be different for foreign currency cash, drafts, checks, or wire transfers. Foreign exchange markets are dynamic and rates fluctuate over time based on market conditions, liquidity, and risks. Wells Fargo is your arms-length counterparty on foreign exchange transactions. We may refuse to process any request for a foreign exchange transaction.
Incoming wire transfers received in a foreign currency for payment into your account will be converted into U.S. dollars using the applicable exchange rate without prior notice to you. For more information, see the “Applicable Exchange Rate” and “Incoming international wire transfer” sections of the Deposit Account Agreement. Fees may be charged by third parties or other banks, in addition to those described above.
Our overdraft fee for Consumer checking accounts is $35 per item (whether the overdraft is by check, ATM withdrawal, debit card transaction, or other electronic means). We charge no more than three overdraft fees per business day. Overdraft fees are not applicable to Clear Access Banking accounts. The payment of transactions into overdraft is discretionary and we reserve the right not to pay. For example, we typically do not pay overdrafts if your account is overdrawn or you have had excessive overdrafts. You must promptly bring your account to a positive balance.
With Extra Day Grace Period, when your personal account is overdrawn, you have an additional business day (extra day) to make covering deposits and/or transfers to avoid the prior business day’s overdraft fees. If your account’s available balance as of 11:59 pm Eastern Time on your extra day is positive, the pending overdraft fees for the prior business day’s overdraft items will be waived. If your available balance as of 11:59 pm Eastern Time is enough to cover some, but not all, of the prior business day’s overdraft items, we’ll apply your available balance to the transactions in the order that they posted to your account. Any transactions not covered by 11:59 pm Eastern Time are subject to applicable overdraft fees. All deposits and transfers are subject to the Bank’s Availability of Funds Policy. Please see the Wells Fargo Deposit Account Agreement for more details.
With Early Pay Day, the Bank may make incoming electronic direct deposits made through the Automated Clearing House (ACH) available for use up to two days before the scheduled payment date. Not all direct deposits are eligible for Early Pay Day. Early availability of direct deposits is not guaranteed and may vary from deposit to deposit. Whether we make funds available early depends on when we receive the payor’s payment instructions, any limitations we set on the amount of early availability, and standard fraud prevention screening. Available for personal accounts only. See our Deposit Account Agreement for more details.
