Frequently Asked Questions
Wells Fargo At Work Checking is changing to Everyday Checking
What is happening and when?
On November 18, 2024, your Wells Fargo At Work Checking account will be changing to Everyday Checking.
- The Everyday Checking account offers similar benefits to your current account and there will be no changes to your account number, online/mobile banking access, existing checks, debit card, direct deposit, or bill payments.
- With your new Everyday Checking account, the $10 monthly service fee is lower, and you’ll have some additional new ways to avoid this fee, including a new lower minimum daily balance requirement of $500. This means as long as your balance doesn’t go below $500 any day during the monthly fee period,Footnote 1 you will not pay the $10 fee.
Why are you changing my account?
- We’ve updated our checking accounts to better meet the needs of our customers; therefore, we no longer offer Wells Fargo At Work Checking accounts.
- Your updated account will give you continued access to the benefits which are important to you.
Will my account number or routing number change?
Your account number and routing number will remain the same. You can find your account and routing numbers in Online Banking under “Routing and Details.” Or use the guide here: Routing & Account Number Information for Your Wells Fargo Accounts.
I currently have direct deposit and scheduled bill payments with my checking account. Will I need to set these up again?
All of your current direct deposits and bill payments will continue uninterrupted in your Everyday Checking account.
What is the Everyday Checking account monthly service fee?
The Everyday Checking monthly service fee is $10. You can avoid the $10 monthly service fee if you meet any one of the following conditions during each fee period:
- $500 minimum daily balance
- $500 or more in total qualifying electronic depositsFootnote 2
- The primary account owner is 17 – 24 years oldFootnote 3
- A linked Wells Fargo Campus ATM Card or Campus Debit CardFootnote 4
- A qualifying non-civilian military direct deposit with the Wells Fargo Worldwide Military Banking programFootnote 5,Footnote 7
We’ll waive the monthly service fee for the first two fee periods after November 18, 2024, so that you have extra time to make any adjustments, if needed, to avoid the fee.
What remains the same?
- You can continue to use your Wells Fargo Debit Card to make purchases and payments, and to get cash and manage your money at ATMs.
- You can still use the Wells Fargo Mobile® appFootnote 6 with your account.
- You can continue to use your existing checks.
- Worldwide Military Banking ATM benefits will continue to apply if you maintain a qualifying military direct deposit.Footnote 7
- Your account and routing numbers will not change, and your direct deposits and automatic bill payments continue uninterrupted in your Everyday Checking account.
Are there other benefits with Everyday Checking?
- With your new Everyday Checking account, you may be eligible to receive the following benefitsFootnote 8 each fee period when you link your account to a Wells Fargo Campus ATM Card or Campus Debit Card:
- No monthly service fee charged
- No Wells Fargo fees for up to four cash withdrawals from non-Wells Fargo ATMs in the U.S.Footnote 9
- Courtesy refund of one incoming wire transfer feeFootnote 10
- No fee charged for one overdraftFootnote 11
What is a fee period?
- You can find your account fee period on your statement in the Monthly Service Fee Summary section, online in your account’s Activity Summary, or in the mobile app in the Account Summary page under the Routing & Details section.
- We use a fee period to determine your monthly service fee and other monthly fees. We calculate and post your monthly service fee, if any, on the last business day of your fee period (excluding Prime Checking and Premier Checking accounts).

A qualifying electronic deposit is a deposit of funds, such as your salary, government benefit payment, or other income, that has posted to your account and is (1) a direct deposit made through the Automated Clearing House (ACH) network, (2) an instant payment processed through the RTP® network (real-time payment system) or FedNow℠Service Mark Service, or (3) an electronic credit from a third party service that facilitates payments to your debit card using the Visa® or Mastercard® network (e.g. an Original Credit Transaction). Transfers from one account to another, mobile deposits, Zelle®, or deposits made at a branch or ATM are not considered a qualifying electronic deposit.
When the primary account owner reaches the age of 25, age can no longer be used to avoid the monthly service fee.
Eligibility is based on university and college participation in the Wells Fargo Campus Card℠Service Mark program. Ask a banker or visit wellsfargo.com/campuscard for additional details.
You will receive your Worldwide Military Banking program benefits 45 days after your qualifying non-civilian military direct deposit is deposited into your eligible Wells Fargo checking account. For more information on the qualifying non-civilian military direct deposit, program qualifications and benefits, please visit wellsfargo.com/military/worldwide-military-banking or wellsfargo.com/depositdisclosures.
Availability may be affected by your mobile carrier’s coverage area. Your mobile carrier’s message and data rates may apply.
A qualifying non-civilian military direct deposit is a direct deposit of your salary, pension, or disability benefits electronically deposited from Department of Defense/Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DOD/DFAS), Department of Veterans Affairs/Veterans Benefits Administration (VA/VBA), or U.S. Department of the Treasury from any branch of the United States military into an eligible checking account. Transfers from one account to another, mobile deposits, Zelle® , or deposits made at a branch or ATM don’t qualify as a direct deposit. You will receive your program benefits 45 days after your qualifying non-civilian military direct deposit is deposited into your checking account. Prime Checking and Premier Checking accounts are not eligible for this program.
These benefits will take effect within 45 days following the linkage of your Campus Card to a Clear Access Banking or Everyday Checking account. Your account must be linked to an open, active Wells Fargo Campus Card to remain eligible and receive these benefits. Benefits will end 60 days after your Campus Card is no longer linked and the Bank’s standard Clear Access Banking or Everyday Checking account terms and fees apply. For more information, please refer to the Wells Fargo Consumer Account Fee and Information Schedule or see a Wells Fargo banker.
Fees charged by non-Wells Fargo ATM operator or network may apply.
Whether or not the wire transfer fee is waived, Wells Fargo makes money when we convert one currency to another currency for you. The exchange rate used when Wells Fargo converts one currency to another is set at our sole discretion, and it includes a markup. The markup is designed to compensate us for several considerations including, without limitation, costs incurred, market risks, and our desired return. The applicable exchange rate does not include, and is separate from, any applicable fees. The exchange rate Wells Fargo provides to you may be different from exchange rates you see elsewhere. Different customers may receive different rates for transactions that are the same or similar, and the applicable exchange rate may be different for foreign currency cash, drafts, checks, or wire transfers. Foreign exchange markets are dynamic and rates fluctuate over time based on market conditions, liquidity, and risks. Wells Fargo is your arms-length counterparty on foreign exchange transactions. We may refuse to process any request for a foreign exchange transaction.
Incoming wire transfers received in a foreign currency for payment into your account will be converted into U.S. dollars using the applicable exchange rate without prior notice to you. For more information, see the “Applicable Exchange Rate” and “Incoming international wire transfer” sections of the Deposit Account Agreement. Fees may be charged by third parties or other banks, in addition to those described above.
Our overdraft fee for Consumer checking accounts is $35 per item (whether the overdraft is by check, ATM withdrawal, debit card transaction, or other electronic means). We charge no more than three overdraft fees per business day. Overdraft fees are not applicable to Clear Access Banking accounts. The payment of transactions into overdraft is discretionary and we reserve the right not to pay. For example, we typically do not pay overdrafts if your account is overdrawn or you have had excessive overdrafts. You must promptly bring your account to a positive balance.
